Hey there! I'm Primal Instinks, and I'm the "Wonka" of The No Deo Hero show, as well as the video editor and operator of its YouTube channel and official website. My punk-themed mascot is satirically animated as a skinny, stinking rat named Cheesus Brodent who refuses to bathe and has green fur as a result.
I'm known on YouTube for my body odor-themed humor, my dramatized stompdown videos, my lean physique, and my athletic ability to hold my breath for impressively long periods of time. I'm also humbled to say I'm appreciated by fans of all ages from around the world who look up to me because of my openness and pride in being the unique individual I am, which helps other people understand themselves better and encourages them to love and accept what they're into instead of feeling ashamed of who they are. Individually we are misfits, but together we're a tribe.

I created "The No Deo Hero" to be an artistic outlet and a fun hobby for my free time, and also to share the good times I had together with friends I filmed with in the beginning. My channel is basically a virtual playground for me and I'm very passionate about being an influencer to my fans. I'm also proud to say that I've never used any artificial methods, outside assistance, or third-party companies to help grow my channel; its all been organic and as a result of my dedication and effort. I'm an independent creator with no team or paid staff behind me, and these days I film full-time for a living.
My goal with this show is to entertain people with my eccentric antics and unique creativity, encourage everyone to stand out and embrace who they are by being open about who I am, share the good times the founding friends and I had together on camera, and overall to simply have fun and enjoy life as a whole. I believe everyone has an opportunity to leave their mark on the world and I hope "The No Deo Hero" will be my way of doing so. The primary focus of my show has always been to just be myself on camera. In my mind, any two people can play video games or have a drink together, but getting to actually know someone, appreciating who they individually are, and doing the things they like to do the most together is what true friendship is about, and this is evident in the earlier videos on my channel I filmed with friends I had at the time who moved on in life as the years went by. It's bittersweet when the people you make memories with become memories, and I now continue carrying the torch solo. |
I like to encourage everyone to be themselves instead of follow trends, and I lead by being open about what makes me stand out from other people. On account of my natural outlook on life, I haven't used deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, or body soap since 2013. I wash my hands with antibacterial soap on a regular basis, I brush and floss my teeth every day without using toothpaste or mouthwash, and I bathe naturally by rinsing my body with just water in the shower every other day.
Contrary to my show's humor, I don't do this to gross people out, I do it because it's the natural way I comfortably like to live, hence my given nickname Primal. My parents taught me at an early age to use hygiene products, but I realized the dry and itchy skin I was experiencing during my teen years was the result of it, so one by one I gave them up. I wasn't raised by wolves, I grew up to become one.
In self-deprecating satire, I created an unwashed rat mascot for my show based off of me because I'm proud of who I am and I don't take myself too seriously, and while I hope humanity as a whole will learn to respect everyone for their individuality in life, I'm aware that some people will see me as a freak for how unconventional my hygiene is to modern society, hence the punk-inspired "rat" label. Punk also happens to be my favorite subculture and my hairstyle is a mohawk that I shave and cut myself.

As a result of childhood imprinting, I've always liked how peoples' feet smell bad from wearing shoes for too long or not changing their socks regularly, and I would habitually smell my friends' shoes and feet as a young boy. I continued this quirky behavior during my teen years, a period when I began wearing the same pair of socks for days without changing them so my own shoes and feet would always stink in order to be one of the "cool" kids, a habit I never grew out of. I'd try to get my friends to smell my shoes and then laugh at their reaction to how bad they were, and I'd also rate the smell of their shoes on a pungency scale of 1 to 5 for fun.
This shoe-smelling habit carried over into my adulthood, and I still perceive stinky feet to be a rewarding, albeit gross smell as a result of me finding it entertaining to encounter during my youth. By extension, my brain is also wired to find body odor to be gross in a rewarding way, while I happen to find artificial fragrances like deodorant, scented candles, and most detergents and colognes to be offensive. I revealed this imprinted interest in a satirical "My Strange Addiction: Smelling Shoes" mini-series on YouTube where I asked several of my friends and co-workers to loan me their shoes so I could soapbox about smelling them on camera as a parody of "sneakerheads" who collect new shoes and enjoy the new shoe smell - in my version, it's old shoes and the stinky shoe smell instead. In the third episode of the series I explained the psychology behind the interest in detail and included an inspiring core message about not being ashamed of who you are and what you like as long as it's harmless. It's not like we can help that something was accidentally imprinted on us as kids, seeing as we were so young when it happened! |
The punny nickname "Primal Instinks" was gifted to me by T-Wrex, a founding friend of my channel who filmed me with for five and a half years until he married his school-years sweetheart and left the show. We were best friends at the time and roommates for a few years, and he gave me this name on account of my natural outlook on life and the fact that I don't shower every day or use deodorant, and also because I prefer to be shirtless and barefoot as often as possible like a primitive man. I got a kick out of this fitting name and embraced it as my own. I came up with the slogans "refuse to use" for my stance against using deodorant and "dare to wear (the same pair)" for my choice of comfortably wearing the same socks for up to a week before changing them.
Due to digestive issues which suddenly began coming about from eating meat, I made the decision to become a vegetarian in March of 2018. I'm honestly happy this happened because I respect other animals on this planet we share and I like to eat healthy. I switched from cow's milk to almond milk in November of 2021, and I started buying non-dairy cheese sometime after that as well. On August 16, 2023, I embraced more of a vegan diet after deciding not to eat honey anymore and changing out my whey protein powder for an organic, plant-based one. I don't like fast food, fried food, candy, or anything with a lot of added sugar in it.

I'm a millennial, which means I got to be a 90's kid. Video games, especially the Super Mario world, captivated my imagination during my childhood, and for Halloween I would dress up as villains from some of my favorite games, including King Koopa (Bowser from the Mario Bros), Shredder from the Ninja Turtles, and James from Team Rocket.
I'm five feet and eleven inches tall and I weigh about 150 pounds. I have brown hair and blue eyes, and I'm an American "Euromutt" of mixed heritage, including Scottish, Welsh, Irish, and Italian ancestry. I was born near-sighted and wore contact lenses and glasses for many years, but I had LASIK eye surgery in February of 2021 to correct it. Aside from filming and editing videos, I also enjoy singing and photography for fun. I like many different genres of music, with grunge, metal, punk, alternative, rock and roll, and rap being my favorites. My favorite video games are Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Earthbound, Mother 3, Wonder Boy in Monster World, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Pokémon, Spyro The Dragon 1 and 2, Skyrim, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and Super Smash Bros. For athletics, I enjoy lifting weights and exercising regularly, which I do five days a week at my home gym in order to stay lean and fit, and for sports I enjoy wrestling and playing basketball. On account of a lifetime of practice, I also like to hold my breath for fun and have the self-taught ability to resist the urge to breathe for more than twice as long as most people, with an average best time of four minutes, and a longest personal record of five minutes and thirty-six seconds. During several past attempts, I accidentally passed out from holding my breath for so long which is physically impossible for most of the population to voluntarily do! I began practicing holding my breath as a kid underwater in the tub where I would spend bath time honing my skill instead of washing my body. This is the earliest childhood memory I have, which took place at age 4 or 5. When my mom got scared because she found me face-down in the tub one day and thought I had drowned, she forbade me from doing it underwater anymore, so I began practicing above water in my bedroom and during classes at school instead. I continued training myself during my teenage years, where I managed a record of three and a half minutes, and further conditioned my body to survive prolonged periods without oxygen into my adulthood, where I've now successfully gone over five minutes without breathing on several occasions. I revel in the scary excitement of pushing my body's limits as a form of "benign masochism" in the same sense that people participate in hot pepper-eating contests knowing that they'll have to persevere against pain and misery. From a biological standpoint, I've always been fascinated by my brain's tolerance to oxygen deprivation and how far I can safely push it, and I also love to impress my friends with this talent by having them watch my videos or letting them spot me by using their hands to cover my nose and mouth and time my attempts, knowing they're experiencing a mixture of fun, excitement, anxiety, and fear along with me as each minute passes. |
From a romantic standpoint, I'm bisexual and have known this since my teenage years, but I've never been into sex. I've only ever dated girls, but by 11th grade I was already done with dating. I've kissed and cuddled both males and females and held hands with them, as well as accepted masturbation from both genders, but I realized I wasn't wired to be a breeder. Asexual is the best term I can use to describe my sexual identity, though it sometimes confuses people since I do still have a sexual side to me; I simply don't enjoy conventional intercourse or have any interest in traditional dating.
On account of the aforementioned imprinting during my youth and subsequent hard-wiring in my brain, holding my breath and smelling body odor in certain instances is a reward trigger for me that gives me a pleasurable feeling in my head. In extreme cases where the pleasure is more intensely felt (such as experiencing a stronger smell or during prolonged breath holding), this can cause arousal in me, but it's more of a result of a pleasure overload and I don't consider these things to be erotic, though I do enjoy deriving pleasure from them and fantasize about them.
I enjoy casual fun with other people I get to know and connect with who are willing to entertain these imprinted interests with me, but sex, dating, marriage, or having kids is not for me; instead I focus on friendships and bonding with others I feel a relativity and connection toward. I find strength in independence and take pride in caring for myself without the need of physical or mental dependency on others.
In my enjoyment of being minimalist and as natural as comfortably possible, I live shirtless and barefoot as often I can. The only time I wear socks or shoes is when I'm out in public. I enjoy walking through trails in the woods and on grass barefoot and find it mentally therapeutic to connect with nature and the earth this way. Though I'm aware that humans are the dominant species of this planet, I try to be kind and respectful to all living things and treat our planet right.
My three favorite quotes are (1) "find your lane and stay in it," (2) "you get in where you fit in," and (3) "the world is round for a reason," the last of which is a nod to karma and another way of saying "what goes around, comes around." I'm not religious, but I believe that the energy you put out in the world comes back to you, and while we'll never control fate, we can use our free will to be better people in order to have it be more favorable to us. I also like the quote "if you ski out of your league, you're gonna have a bad time" from South Park because it's true in more than just a literal sense.
My core message is to be yourself, have fun, enjoy life, respect others, and never be ashamed of who you individually are as long as it's harmless. I aim to use my platform as a virtual force to try to keep the world positive, open-minded, and happy, and I strive to repel any negativity with the power of acceptance, love and laughter.
