Every YouTube channel has a story to tell. Here, I'll attempt to tell mine, since you're clearly interested in learning about it by reading this. Here we go! Personal playlists When my YouTube channel, The No Deo Hero, was originally started, I never would have guessed that I would wind up going from posting funny home videos to the internet for my friends' amusement to gaining a cult following and receiving donations from fans who enjoyed my content in a mere matter of months. It was surreal to be admired by random people on the internet, and I quickly grew to appreciate it. These days I enjoy filming new videos in my spare time as both an artistic outlet and lucrative hobby. One of my renowned playlists began with a new type of video where, in between a workout together with T-Wrex (a former friend on my channel) and a backyard boxing match, I decided to experiment with a new camera angle to use for a video. I set my phone on the grass with the camera facing up and stood over it, peering down at myself on the screen. Seeing as this made me appear to be standing over the audience below, I was suddenly inspired by the scene from Office Space where three of the actors destroy a malfunctioning printer outdoors by stomping and hitting it while fitting music plays in the background. I called T-Wrex over, who channeled his dinosaur persona into the video, and the two of us treated the camera like that stomped-out printer, then uploaded the video to my channel. Shortly after being posted, this "stompdown" video, coupled with my comedy and entertainment videos, and aided by my home gym workouts and breath-holding battles, jump-started my channel in views and subscribers and earned comments and donations from a cult following of fans asking for more. I created a playlist for each of my unique types of videos and began filming more of them whenever I had the free time to do so. When those videos proved to be popular as well, I began contacting more of my friends and inviting them to share the spotlight and the fun in these videos with me in order to offer a variety of fresh faces and unique styles for each playlist on my channel. My friends also adopted nicknames and personas and brought their own personalities to the videos. Being a variety channel, I was attracting more of a diverse audience and growing by the day, and having a lot of fun in the process. In order to interact more with my fans, I decided to expand a little more by creating this official website, which allowed me to write this blog you're reading, offer a little more information of who I am, and share some personal photos with all of my fans. Everyone likes pictures, right? What's in a name? My channel was named "The No Deo Hero" as a self-deprecating joke about my personal hygiene standards, particularly the unconventional fact that I don't use deodorant. It doesn't mean I have the worst hygiene, but still, it's something funny that separates me from the rest of society and I instantly knew that the channel needed to be named after that fact. The punny nickname Primal Instinks was gifted to me by T-Wrex. In the spirit of self-deprecating satire, I adopted an unwashed punk rat persona on account of my non-use of hygiene products, and also on account of the fact that all of this happens to go against modern society's norms and standards, making me a "vermin" to society. I only view myself as a rat in jest, and I play along with the joke at my expense for the sake of humor. I further entertain this persona by defending natural body odor and filming a parody mini-series of TLC's "My Strange Addiction" where I demonstrated my quirky habit of smelling my friends' shoes. A new direction As time went on, the friends I started my channel with moved on in life, leaving me to continue what I started by myself. I decided to continue on solo and still upload YouTube videos and film solo video commissions for all my fans.
I'd like to close this quick history write-up by saying I enjoy the opportunity I've been given with this channel, and I appreciate everyone who is a fan of my content, everyone who likes, comments on, and shares my videos, and anyone who has supported me -- and I enjoy filming videos for all of my fans! Thanks again to everyone for making this all possible and being part of the fun! - Primal
