Hey, how are ya?
This blog is going to serve as an official Q & A session, where I'll answer some choice questions people regularly comment or ask me in a fan mail message. Here we go! Q: How tall are you? A: I'm 5'11" without shoes on and not counting my hair. If we are counting my hair, then we can round up to 6 foot! Q: How much do you weigh? A: 145 pounds. Q: What size shoe do you wear? A: USA size 12. Q: How old are you? A: I'm a Millennial. 90's kids represent! Q: Where are you located? A: The USA. Q: What's your relationship to the people featured in your earlier videos? A: Everyone else you see on the channel is, or at one point was, a personal friend of mine. I met all of those friends organically at part-time jobs we worked at together. Q: What's your current breath-holding record? A: My longest record is 5:36 and there's a video of it on my channel. You should check it out if you haven't yet! Q: How long have you been filming videos for? A: I originally created The No Deo Hero show on YouTube on October 5th, 2015. I had a few solo channels before that which served as prototype precursors to this one, but The No Deo Hero is a show I'm proud of that I want to continue for my fans for as long as possible. Q: When I'm emailing The No Deo Hero, who am I writing to? A: I'm Primal Instinks, and I'm the creator and operator of The No Deo Hero channel and this official website. I'm also the one who reads and replies to all the comments, fan messages, and emails. Nice to meetcha! Q: Do you read all your YouTube video comments and fan mail messages? A: Yes, I read all of the comments and fan messages received, and I really appreciate them. I take time to "like" or respond to YouTube comments, and I enjoy hearing from fans who use the Fan Mail feature on this website to write to me. Q: Are any of your friends available to participate in custom video commissions? A: I had a crew of friends who used to film commissions with me in the beginning, but over time their lives changed and unfortunately they aren't available anymore. However, if you'd to purchase access to exclusive, behind-the-scenes videos involving me and these former friends, visit the Extras page of this website because there are hundreds of unique ones to choose from! It's not easy to find people who are comfortable or interested in committing to being on camera, so I started filming as a solo act during the beginning of 2023, which I've found more success with in terms of viewership and financial support. Q: How long do you wear your clothing before mailing it out? A: I sell my personally worn clothing as merch to my fans, and I'm willing to wear a t-shirt, tank top, pair of socks, or boxers for 3 or 4 days before mailing it to you if you're interested. I also announce whenever I'm selling my shoes once I'm ready to buy new ones. At this time, I'm only able to mail clothing to fans in the USA. I apologize to international fans who want to buy clothing from me, but the post office in my area only offers international shipping for letters and post cards (not clothes or shoes), and the different shipping costs for each individual country, as well as the customs declarations forms, complicate it. Q: How do I donate or send a payment to you? A: If you're a fan who lives in the United States, you can donate or send a payment using the cashtag $TheNoDeoHero on Cash App. You'll need to download this free app on your mobile phone in order to use it. US fans can also use Patreon to send a one-time payment or sign up for a monthly patronage if they like, and Amazon gift cards are also acceptable to send to [email protected]. If you're a fan who lives outside of the USA, you're able to send a one-time payment using Patreon. You also have the option of becoming monthly patrons on my Patreon and viewing exclusive posts as a perk for your support. Fans who live outside the USA can also send Amazon gift cards to [email protected]. If you need help with anything, email me and I'll be happy to walk you through it! Q: How much do I send to you if I want to watch some of your behind-the-scenes extras, or how much do I need to send you if I have my own custom video idea to film? A: Behind-the-scenes extras, which are detailed on the Extras pages, are all just $10 each to purchase access to. There's a small transaction fee included, which I will total for you in an email. If you have a custom video idea you want me to film for you, visit the Commissions page and email me the details of what you want to see and I'll follow up with you about it. For reference, I accept $50 for a general commission. The included cost of any requested supplies and the nature of your request could increase this amount. Payments always need to be received upfront in full before I will film the video. Q: What kind of video commissions will you film for your fans? A: My goal is to try to never say no! If you want to see some examples, I have an ever-growing list of behind-the-scenes extras which can be viewed by clicking here. These are all video commissions I filmed that I make available as "extras" that fans can purchase access to for less of the cost of a commission. If you're unsure if I'll be able to make your request a reality, just email me and ask. There's no such thing as a bad or weird video idea so don't be shy! Q: Do you add music to the video commissions, or is there background music in your behind-the-scenes extras? A: No, I only add music to some of the videos I upload on my YouTube channel. The behind-the-scenes extras are raw videos without music or sound effects added, unless the addition of music or sound effects was specifically requested and paid for, and the description for the videos will mention if music or sound effects are in them. Editing sound and/or visual effects into videos is too time-consuming of a process for me and I prefer to keep my production style more simple and homemade as homage to the early days of YouTube, and the effects you see in the slapstick comedy videos were actually edited in by a fan who commissions me for those kinds of videos. Q: Will you film any video requests for free? A: No. Due to time constraints, I have to limit this opportunity to fans who commission me, and in order to be fair to all patrons I have to keep it this way. Thanks for understanding! That's it for the Q & A! If you have any other questions, email me at [email protected]. - Primal

Hey, how are ya?
I'm happy to announce I've created a new hybrid sport which combines my breath-holding battles with my wrestling matches. This sport, which I call "brethling," is submission-style wrestling without any hitting or kicking. Some of my fans have pointed out that it closely resembles Brazilian jiu-jitsu with its focus on grappling and ground control. The goal of brethling is to weaken your opponent using "smotherholds" by using your hands to block your opponent's nose and mouth in order to deplete their oxygen supply, and then finishing them off by applying a chokehold or some other submission hold until they tap out. It's a competitive new sport that puts your survival skills to the test! The initial video debut of brethling was a test run which limited the method to win solely to smotherholds, which failed to yield a winner and eventually ended in a tie. Fans responded to my inquiry about the new sport in the comment section and suggested that submission holds be added to the sport to ensure that each match would end with a winner. This suggestion was implemented into the sport, and is now included in its official rules. I came up with brethling because I liked the idea of creating a new No Deo Hero sport out of combining two of my, and my fans', favorite playlists on my channel for fun. The term brethling (pronounced 'BREATH-ling'), a portmanteau of "breath" and "wrestling," was coined by T-Wrex. Brethling's debut video has earned over 6,000 views and 64 likes at the time of this writing, with fans emailing me and leaving comments asking for more. The success of the new sport with my audience, coupled with the fun rivalry it brings, means it will become a playlist to look forward to as new matches are filmed and uploaded! Here are the official rules to my new backyard sport: * No hitting, kicking, or using weapons/objects of any kind * No shoes may be worn * No time limits * Opponent can be weakened with smotherholds (using the hands to block breathing through the nose and mouth) * Matches are won by applying submission holds until the opponent taps out, and they can also be won if an opponent taps out from a smotherhold The first official round of brethling with the finalized rules was successfully uploaded for fans to enjoy. Stay tuned for more brethling matches as they're filmed and posted! |
